This fee will be credited to accepted apprentices who successfully complete Math Refresher and register for 1<sup>st<\/sup> Year, 1<sup>st<\/sup> Semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"minimum-qualifications\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These minimum qualifications determine eligibility for an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At least 18 years of age<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High School graduate, have a GED, or 2 year associate degree or higher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One year of high school algebra, with passing grades (GED algebra not accepted)* If you do not meet the high school algebra requirement, a Tech Math course from the electrical training Alliance can be used to fulfill this requirement. You can find out more information about the Electrical Training Alliance&#8217;s Tech Math Course by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skillsprep.org\/login\/index.php\">clicking here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Driver License (Without restriction B)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Texas Electrical Apprentice License<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Score a 5 or higher on the NJATC Aptitude Test.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physically capable of doing electrical construction work <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All applicants who are accepted into the Apprenticeship Program will have a drug screen and maybe required to take a physical exam which will include color blindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"required-documentation\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Copy of Birth Certificate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valid Drivers License (Without restriction B)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Texas Electrical Apprentice License<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Official&nbsp;High School&nbsp;Transcript and\/or College Transcript with an associates degree or higher\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An official high school transcript can be mailed directly to us from your institution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emailed transcripts are not accepted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unofficial transcripts are not accepted. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Security Card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GED Certificate (If applicable.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>College Transcript (If applicable.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Veterans DD214 &#8211; Long Form &#8211; as proof of service (If applicable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"texas-electrical-apprentice-license\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">Texas Electrical Apprentice License<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tdlr.texas.gov\/electricians\/\">www.tdlr.texas.gov\/electricians\/<\/a> and click on &#8220;Apprentice Electrician&#8221; under \u201cIndividual Licenses\u201d and enter your information. You will need a debit\/credit card to make the $20.00 payment. Your physical license will be mailed to you in a few weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Individuals with criminal records will need to fill out a supplemental information sheet. Please keep in mind that TDLR will take weeks to process your application if you are required to complete the supplemental information sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will need to upload an image of your Texas Electrical Apprentice License or Temporary Texas Electrical Apprentice License during the application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"aptitude-test\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">APTITUDE TEST<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After your paperwork has been reviewed and it is confirmed that you meet the qualifications, you will be scheduled for the NJATC Aptitude Test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Aptitude Test is made up of two parts: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Algebra and Functions, and <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reading Comprehension. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It takes approximately two to three hours to complete the test. To qualify for an interview, you must score a 5 or higher on the NJTAC Aptitude Test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"interview\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">INTERVIEW<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Apprenticeship Committee will notify applicants of the date and time of their interviews. Interviews are held at the&nbsp;North&nbsp;Texas&nbsp;Electrical Training&nbsp;Center. The Committee will select the people they feel are the top prospects for the electrical industry. Points that can be taken into consideration at the interview are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Educational background, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extent of math background, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Character, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interest, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooperativeness, <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attitude, and <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal appearance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"term-of-apprenticeship\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">TERM OF APPRENTICESHIP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The term of apprenticeship is 8,000 hours of on-the-job training divided over 4 years with 180 hours of related classroom instruction each year, plus an 8 week math refresher class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"on-the-job-training\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">ON-THE-JOB TRAINING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants selected will start their on-the-job training as soon as there is a job opening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting salary is $20.33 an hour, with increment raises throughout the program, plus fringe benefits including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Free&nbsp;family health insurance,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free&nbsp;retirement and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free&nbsp;annuity after the first year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"school\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">SCHOOL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Classes are held at the&nbsp;North&nbsp;Texas&nbsp;Electrical&nbsp;Training&nbsp;Center, one day every two weeks from 7:00 AM \u2013 3:30 PM.&nbsp;&nbsp;After you complete Math Refresher, there are 2 semesters per year starting in January and July of each year. You will receive college credit through Dallas College &#8211; North Lake Campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"computer-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apprentices are required to have a desktop or laptop computer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"cost\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\">COST<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apprentices purchase their books and pay tuition at the beginning of each semester.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Book and course fees averages $1,500 per year<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tuition cost is $316.00 per semester (Out of state is higher)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Total cost over 4 years is approximately $7,200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NOTE: Costs are approximate &#8211; All above costs are subject to change as exact costs are determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"direct-entry\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Direct Entry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">North Texas Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee offers Direct Entry after interview from two different pre-apprenticeship programs. <a href=\"https:\/\/in2veep.com\/\">Veterans Electrical Entry Program (VEEP)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.protechskillsinstitute.org\/texas\">IBEW-NECA Electrical College.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Applicant Information Applicants are required to apply online following the instructions supplied here.
